The Wichita Sculptors Guild (WSG) uses a free service from Yahoo for communication by e-mail. If you are a member of WSG and are not part of this e-mail group, you are missing out on communiques sent regarding Guild activities and members, and art events of interest to sculptors. This e-mail group is not used for humorous, inspirational or other such types of messages.

  Membership Requirements

From Bylaws, Article II: Membership

Section 1:
There shall be two types of memberships: 1) the Artist Sculptor and 2) Friends of Sculpture.

Section 2:
Any person who is interested in sculptural art shall be eligible for membership upon submitting an application to the secretary or treasurer.

Section 3:
Membership shall not be effective until the treasurer has received the year's dues. Upon payment of the annual dues, each member will receive a membership card showing that they are in good standing with the guild.

Section 4:
Dues will be paid in January of each year.

Section 5:
New members joining after July 1st shall be eligible for a half-membership fee reduction.

Section 6:
All members who participate in the organization 25 years or more shall be entitled to a half-membership fee reduction.

Section 7:
All members shall be entitled to receive a bi-monthly newsletter published by the guild at no extra cost other than that of the membership fee.

Section 8:
All members shall be entitled to vote at all annual or special meetings.

Section 9:
The Artist Sculpture member may be further classified as an Exhibiting Member providing they meet the requirements for Exhibiting Member.

Section 10:
An Exhibiting Member must: 1) have membership dues current, 2) attend a minimum of two guild bi-monthly meetings annually, and 3) have a current bio and portfolio on file with the guild.

Section 11:
Exhibiting Members are eligible for inclusion on the guild's web site and to participate in guild sponsored exhibits.

Article I: Name and Purpose

Section 1:
The name of this association shall be Wichita Sculptors Guild.

Section 2:
The purpose of the guild shall be to bring together sculptors and sculpture promoters in our area to increase the visibility and use of sculpture in Wichita and the surrounding areas; to give three dimensional artists a chance to share their expertise and techniques with others; and give sculptors a forum in which to show their work and promote themselves.

Article II: Membership

Article III: Officers

Section 1:
The officers of the guild shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. All of whom shall be active members of the association. Officers, other than the President, shall be eligible for yearly re-elections.

Section 2:
The President shall preside over the guild meetings, and should assign committees, and designate each head chairperson to partake any task required by each committee. The President shall serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. Ex-Presidents shall be eligible for future re-elections.

Section 3:
The Vice-President shall collaborate with the President in order carry out the necessary duties to run the group. In the event of the President's absence, the Vice-President shall preside over meetings and partake duties as long as necessary.

Section 4:
In the event of an officer's vacancy, a meeting should be held where a new member will be elected to the vacant position by a majority vote.

Section 5:
Any of the officers may be removed at a special meeting where at least two thirds of the guild's members are present. The majority rule should determine the outcome of the impeachment.

Article IV: Boards

Section 1:
The board shall consist of the current officers and committee chairpersons.

Section 2:
The executive board shall consist of past presidents and current officers.

Section 3:
The founder of this organization shall be kept on record as Frank Ritter. Each president succeeding him should be kept on record by the Secretary and Historian.

Article V: Elections

Section 1:
Elections shall be held annually on the second Saturday of the month of November.

Section 2:
All members shall be eligible for Nominations. Any member, is allowed to provide propaganda to all guild members during the allotted election period.

Section 3:
A notice of election shall be announced to all members at least two months in advance. Election information shall be provided to all members in written form. A committee shall be assigned to carry out all necessary procedures for the election.

Section 4:
Nominations should be received by the committee one month prior to elections are held. A two-thirds vote should approve the nominees. No more than three members shall be nominated for the same position. Nomination forms will be mailed to all members.

Section 5:
Ballots with the names of elected nominees shall then be provided to all members in the monthly newsletter, at least one month prior to elections.

Section 6:
The secret ballots will be deposited in a box during the election period. The votes will be counted at the meeting on the assigned date by the elections committee head chairperson in the presence of all attending members.

Section 7:
Officer's terms shall begin at the close of the meeting at which they are elected, and terminate at the close of the meeting at which their successors are elected.

Article VI: Meetings

Section 1:
Meetings will be held bi-monthly every second Saturday of the month. Special meetings may take place if needed. Annually, a minimum of six business meetings should be held.

Section 2:
Members will receive an annual calendar with marked dates. Dates are subject to change; notifications with changes shall be sent to all members.

Section 3:
An agenda shall be followed during all meetings. The president shall arrange the order of business and a two-thirds number of members shall constitute a quorum.

Section 4:
All organizational decisions and minutes will be approved by a majority vote.

Section 5:
All attending members are eligible to vote at meetings.

Section 6:
An annual meeting shall be held before the end of the year where the President shall present an annual report; complete with total amount of funds owned, how were they acquired, and how they were invested. This report shall also include the names and addresses of all persons admitted into membership during that year. A majority vote shall approve the report which must then be signed by the President. The annual report shall be filed by the Secretary for future references.

Article VII: Constitutional Amendments

Section 1:
A special committee shall deliver, in written form, the proposed amendment(s) to all guild members. Proposed amendments shall be discussed at special meetings.

Section 2:
New amendments shall be incorporated into the constitution by a two-thirds majority vote. The changes will go into effect immediately after approval and ratification.

Section 3:
The President elect must sign the approved amendment(s) to ratify the constitutional changes.

Article VIII: Finances

Section 1:
A $20.00 membership fee shall be paid by the month of July each year. Fees are subject to change annually.

Section 2:
Dues shall be paid to the Treasurer.

Section 3:
he Treasurer shall be responsible for collection and disbursement of funds. Proper and accurate records of finances must be kept by the Treasurer.

Section 4:
Expenditures shall be approved by a majority vote at meetings.

Section 5:
The Treasurer shall present an annual report to the President.

Section 6:
A special committee, not assigned by the President shall be formed to examine the annual report and act as auditors. Five members shall be required to form the committee. The committee shall be approved by a majority vote.

Section 7:
The Treasurer shall approve an annual budget for the Secretary who will provide newsletters to all guild members.

Article IX: Parliamentary Procedures

Section 1:
Robert's Rule of Order will be used in all parliamentary instances not covered by the constitution.
